Introduction
“Intrinsically motivated, humans constantly overcome the frontiers of knowledge and perception. They discover new continents, climb mountain peaks, explore the universe or enter the bowels of the earth. Humans try to arrange and chart their understanding of the world into mathematical formulas, maps, perspective illustrations or 3-D models.
The artist Ce Jian examines these principles of constructing reality in her artworks. In her abstract geometrical paintings, landscapes, mountains or faces she does not strive to study the depicted, but examine visualization models targeting different forms of perception.”
